Small job

Website rental: WordPress site for a monthly fee, maintenance included

We build your WordPress website and keep it running: hosting, updates, backups, security monitoring, small changes and support for one predictable monthly fee, while the domain and content stay yours.

  • Assessment and estimate are free

Website rental means we build a WordPress website for you and you pay a monthly fee instead of a one-off project price. The fee covers hosting, updates, backups, security monitoring, small content changes and support, so the site is always looked after rather than left to age on its own.

The result is a working website under your company’s name for one predictable monthly amount. The domain and the content are yours from day one. We agree the monthly fee after a free review, once we know how large a site you need and how much ongoing work it will realistically involve.

What the work includes

  • Building the site. We build the WordPress site with the same care as a one-off project: structure, design, content entry, mobile layout and basic on-page SEO. The scope and number of pages are agreed before we start.
  • Hosting arrangement. We choose a suitable server, set up the SSL certificate and manage the hosting ourselves so you never deal with a technical invoice. If you already have hosting you want to use, we check whether it is suitable.
  • Updates. We update WordPress core, the theme and plugins regularly and check the site afterwards. A backup is taken before every update.
  • Backups. Automatic daily backups of files and database, stored separately from the site. If something goes wrong, we restore from a backup.
  • Security monitoring. We monitor uptime and security releases, keep the login protected and react if anything suspicious happens.
  • Small content changes. Text corrections, swapping an image, changing contact details or opening hours, adding a new page based on an existing template. The monthly allowance is set in the contract.
  • Support. You write to or call the developer who knows your site. There is no ticket queue and no call centre.
  • A contract with clear terms. The contract states what the fee includes, how long the agreed period is and what happens when it ends.

Who owns the domain and the content

The domain is registered in your company’s name and stays yours whether or not the rental continues. The same applies to the texts, images and other content you have supplied or we have created on your instruction. What you rent is the technical solution and the service around it, not your business identity.

At the end of the agreed period there are several options: continue on the same monthly fee, buy the site out, or end the arrangement. Which options apply to you and on what terms is written into the contract before we start, so there are no surprises later.

To be honest about cost: added up over several years, rental can cost more than a one-off build. In return you have no upfront investment, and hosting, maintenance, updates and support are covered for the whole period rather than bought separately.

Typical situations

A start-up needs a website straight away but prefers to keep its cash in stock or equipment. A seasonal business, say a summer café or a winter ski hire, does not want to invest in a site that earns for a few months a year. A small business whose previous site sat unmaintained for years and eventually broke wants a solution this time where someone is permanently responsible. Or a company is testing a new service and does not yet know whether it will stay.

What we need from you

  • Company details for registering the domain, or admin access to an existing one.
  • Texts, images and logo, or a decision that we help prepare them (content management is a separate agreement).
  • Decisions on the size of the site, languages and main functions before the build starts.
  • One contact person who approves the design and content and with whom we agree later changes.

What is not included

  • Larger development such as an online shop, a booking system or integrations with business software. We estimate these separately based on actual time.
  • Advertising, social media and ongoing search engine optimisation. The technical foundation is in order; marketing is a separate service.
  • Regular copywriting and news publishing. Small changes are in the fee; continuous content production is a separate arrangement.
  • Licences you choose yourself, such as a paid e-mail service or third-party tools.

Who it suits

Website rental suits new businesses, seasonal businesses and anyone who prefers a predictable monthly cost to a one-off investment and does not want to handle the technical side. If you have the budget and want to own the site outright from day one, a one-off WordPress website build is cheaper in the long run. If you already have a site and only need someone to look after it, see website maintenance or hosting.

Frequently asked questions

How much does website rental cost per month?

The fee depends on the size of the site and the amount of monthly work, so we agree it after a free review and estimate. Once agreed, the amount is fixed and there are no surprises on the invoice.

Who owns the domain and the content?

The domain is registered in your company's name and the texts, images and other content remain yours. What you rent is the technical solution and the service around it.

What happens at the end of the agreed period?

The options are to continue, buy the site out or end the arrangement. Which options and terms apply to you is written into the contract before we build the site.

Is rental more expensive than a one-off build in the long run?

Added up over several years it can be. In return there is no upfront investment, and hosting, maintenance, updates and support are covered throughout. If you plan to run the site for years and have the budget, a one-off build may be the cheaper choice.

Are the changes included in the fee limited?

Yes, the monthly allowance for small changes is set in the contract. Larger work is billed separately based on actual time spent, and you get an estimate first.
