Migrate Squarespace, Webflow, Joomla or Drupal to WordPress

Your site runs on Squarespace, Webflow, Joomla or Drupal, and the cost, the lack of flexibility or an outdated version is getting in the way. You want WordPress, where you can manage content yourself and developers are easy to find. A migration is safe as long as the old site stays up until the new one has been checked. That is how we run it.

What the work includes

Mapping the current site. We go through pages, posts, categories, menus, forms, plugins or extensions and integrations, and agree what moves across and what is dropped.
Content export. Joomla and Drupal are database-driven, so we pull content from the database or a CSV/XML export. For Squarespace and Webflow we use the platform export and, where it falls short, scripted collection from the live pages.
Structure in WordPress. Pages, posts, categories, custom post types and fields are set up so content stays easy to edit later, rather than pasted into one big block.
Media transfer. Images and files go into the WordPress media library, with file names and alt text checked and unused files left behind.
URL map and 301 redirects. Every old address gets a new destination so links and rankings are not lost.
Forms and features. Contact forms, newsletter sign-up, search, galleries and similar parts are rebuilt in WordPress. We choose between a plugin and custom code after looking at the case.
SEO carried over. Titles, meta descriptions, canonical URLs and internal links are migrated and checked.
Testing and DNS switch. The new site is built on a separate address, you review it, and only then do we point the domain. The old site is left untouched for a while.

Typical situations

A Squarespace or Webflow subscription is getting expensive and you also need a shop or several languages.
Joomla 3 or an old Drupal release no longer gets security updates, and upgrading would be a rebuild anyway.
A legacy CMS built years ago by one developer that nobody maintains any more.

What we need from you

Access to the current site (an administrator account) and, where relevant, the server or database.
Access to whoever manages your domain DNS, so the address can be switched at the end.
Which extensions and integrations are in use, and whether the design stays the same or changes.

What is not included

New design. If you want a redesign too, that is a separate job or web development.
Writing new copy or translating it.

Frequently asked questions

Will my Google rankings survive?

If old URLs are redirected correctly and titles and meta data are carried over, any drop is usually small and temporary. After the switch we monitor indexing and fix problems.

Will the site be down during the move?

No. The new site is built on a separate address and the old one keeps running until you approve the new one. Only then do we switch the domain.

Will the design stay the same?

We can build a theme that follows your current look, or use the move as a chance to update it. We discuss this during the review.

What if the Squarespace or Webflow export is incomplete?

Then scripts collect the missing content from the public pages, and anything left over is moved by hand.

What does it cost and how long does it take?

You get a free review and estimate once we have seen the site. We bill the actual time spent, and the timeline depends on the number of pages and features.
