You have bought hosting and a domain, but a blank WordPress is not yet a working website. The defaults rarely suit real use: no SSL, unclear permalinks, security unchecked and no backups. We handle these so you can concentrate on content.

The work happens on your hosting and under your account, so the site stays yours. At the end we hand over a working, clean and secure foundation.

What the work includes

  • Clean installation. The latest stable WordPress, database and files with correct permissions on your hosting.
  • SSL and redirects. HTTPS certificate, a single canonical address (with or without www) and a mixed-content check.
  • Permalinks and core settings. Readable URLs, timezone, language, date formats and comment and search engine visibility settings.
  • Clean-up. Removing sample content and unused themes and plugins.
  • Security basics. A strong administrator account (not “admin”), login attempt limiting, disabling file editing in the dashboard and a check of file permissions.
  • Essential plugins. An SEO plugin, caching, backups and, if needed, a forms plugin. We choose after looking at your hosting and needs.
  • Backups. Regular automatic backups and a check that they can actually be restored.
  • Users. Accounts for you and your team with the right roles.
  • Hand-over. A short summary of what was done, with all access passed to you.

What we need from you

  • Access to the hosting and domain (including the ability to change DNS).
  • The email address you want for the administrator.
  • What the site is for, so we pick suitable plugins (for example whether a shop or multiple languages are coming).

It suits anyone starting a new site from scratch or rebuilding one who wants a proper foundation. If you already have a working WordPress that only needs updating or moving, look at WordPress updates or server migration instead. After installation you can also book WordPress training.
