Custom WordPress Plugin Development

A small need is often solved by pasting code into the theme’s functions.php. That works until the theme changes, the code gets lost, or someone edits it with no review. A separate plugin lives independently of the theme, is versioned and can be switched on and off. We build a defined feature as a clean plugin that stays with you.

Small additions and larger single-purpose tools both fit. Before building anything we check whether a ready-made plugin solves the task more cheaply. If it does, we will say so.

What the work includes

• Requirements. A short specification: what the feature does, who uses it and what happens when something fails. We agree the scope from that.
• Custom post types and taxonomies. A data structure for products, properties, staff or events, with meta fields.
• Shortcodes and Gutenberg blocks. Add content to pages without code, with server-side rendering where it makes sense.
• REST API endpoints. Read and write data from other systems, protected by permissions.
• Admin settings. A settings page built on the WordPress Settings API, so you do not have to edit code.
• WooCommerce hooks. Pricing rules, checkout fields, email content, order statuses and other customisations through action and filter hooks, without touching WooCommerce core.
• Import and export. CSV or JSON data transfer, with background processing so large files do not time out.
• Small automations. Scheduled tasks (WP-Cron or a server cron), notifications and data syncing.
• Security and standards. Nonces, capability checks, input sanitising and output escaping, written to the WordPress Coding Standards.
• Documentation and hand-over. Source code, a short usage guide and code comments. The plugin is yours and works without us.

What we need from you

• A description of what the feature should do, with an example of typical use.
• Access to the site or a copy of it, and the list of plugins in use.
• Documentation or API keys for any system the plugin has to connect to.
• A contact person who tests the finished feature.

What is not included

• A complete web application or a very large system. For that we make a separate plan first.
• Accounting or stock system integration. See the Erply and Directo pages.
• Publishing the plugin in the public WordPress.org directory, unless agreed separately.
• Content and design. The plugin provides function; appearance is the theme’s job.

It suits a business with a specific, recurring need that a ready-made plugin does not cover or needs too much configuration for.
