Migrate Magento, PrestaShop or OpenCart to WooCommerce

Your shop runs on Magento, PrestaShop or OpenCart, and upgrades, hosting costs or the lack of a developer have become a problem. WooCommerce is easier to manage, and it has plenty of extensions, payment and shipping options and developers. The hard part is not setting up the new shop. It is moving the data (products, customers, orders) correctly and keeping your search rankings.

What the work includes

Mapping the shop. We review product types, attributes, taxes, price groups, extensions and integrations, and agree what moves across and what is dropped.
Product transfer. Simple products, variable products (size, colour and so on), SKUs, prices, stock levels, descriptions, images and galleries. We use the WooCommerce CSV importer, or a scripted import when the volume or structure calls for it.
Categories and attributes. The category tree, brands and filter attributes are rebuilt in WooCommerce so navigating the shop works as before.
Customers. Accounts and addresses are moved over. Passwords in old systems are hashed in ways WordPress does not understand, so customers usually set a new password on first login. We agree the process with you in advance.
Order history. Past orders are brought into WooCommerce so customers and your accountant can still see them. Historical orders are imported without sending new emails.
URLs and 301 redirects. Old product and category addresses are redirected to the new ones, protecting search rankings and external links.
Payments and shipping. Payment methods and shipping options are set up again (for example Montonio, Maksekeskus, Stripe, Paysera; Omniva, DPD, Smartposti). We choose the specific solution after looking at your case.
Testing and go-live. The new shop is built in a separate environment, and we test an order, payment and emails. Finally we bring over the latest orders and data and point the domain.

What we need from you

Access to the current shop (an admin account) and, where relevant, the server or database.
Account details for your payment and shipping providers.
A list of integrations (stock system, accounting) that must be reconnected to the new shop.

What is not included

New design. This can be ordered as a separate job.
Rebuilding integrations such as Erply, Directo or Merit Aktiva, if they are not already connected to WooCommerce.
Writing product copy, photographing products and translating.

Who this suits

It suits small and mid-sized shops with hundreds to a few thousand products where customer and order history must be kept. For very large catalogues or complex B2B pricing we agree the data approach first. After go-live we also recommend an SEO migration check.

Frequently asked questions

Will customers have to reset their passwords?

Usually yes. Passwords in old systems use hashes WordPress cannot read directly, so customers reset on first login. We agree this, with the customer email wording, before go-live.

Is the order history migrated?

Yes, past orders are imported into WooCommerce, and they are imported so that customers do not receive new automatic emails.

Will sales stop during the move?

Not for long. The new shop is built separately while the old one keeps running, and a final data sync happens at go-live.

Will my Google rankings survive?

Old product and category URLs are redirected with 301 redirects, which keeps any drop small. After go-live we monitor indexing.

What does it cost and how long does it take?

You get a free review and estimate once we have seen the shop. We bill the actual time spent, and the timeline depends on the number of products and integrations.
